“Car Radio” was one of the first songs released by Twenty One Pilots. It was the first song of theirs to reach the music charts. The song got the band an abundance of recognition, and even an award nomination. The band started gaining a larger fan base after performing on MTV, which was largely due to the fact that their content was original. Their songs are structurally different than most songs that play on the radio. “Car Radio”, for example, technically doesn’t have a chorus or any structure. Overall, the meaning behind their songs tend to be dark aor about real world problems, such as suicide and depression. The singer wrote “Car Radio” as if it were a poem, because he would write poems to describe how he was feeling. Something people struggle with, in general, is being alone and not having anyone to relate to, which is a reason he writes these songs. If you first glance at the lyrics, it appears to be about a man who got his car radio stolen, which happens to be how the writer got the inspiration for the song. There is evidence of pathos throughout the whole song, since it’s an emotional song that can appeal to almost anyone.
