Greetings. My full name is Aadil Ameen Chishty, and I am the youngest child of two siblings. One thing people tend to ask me when they first meet me is the meaning of my name. “Aadil” is taken from the Arabic language, and it can be translated to several definitions, such as, “one who seeks justice,” or simply, “justice” or “equity.” My middle name holds the same meaning as the word “amen” in English. My last name, however, is not important to me; it just reminds me of my shame towards my parent’s homeland.
I have only met my full family twice — once as an infant, and when I was seven — and I hold no real memory of them. My real family is here, where I am. My parents, my parents’ friends, my brother, my friends, and even my teachers are my family; I have learned something useful from them and they have made an impact in my life.

However, I also do want to master the skills that we are taught. These skills will be crucial in college, and not paying attention to them in high school will drastically affect me. I realized over winter break the importance of AP Lang; this class teaches you skills that you will for sure use in your future. The argument branch of AP Lang helps with both speaking and writing. The rhetorical analysis branch helps us understand the motive of the author and the author’s true feelings towards the subject. The synthesis branch allows us to conjure an essay using given information and allows us to take a stand on a topic. I feel terrible that I realized this fact at the end of the first semester, however, this will allow me to improve in the second semester. My future is in my hands and this fact terrifies me.
