My desired career field lies within the robotic Additive Manufacturing (AM) market. I enjoy searching out the big picture of the end results of a product, and all who will interaction with it. The AM or 3D Printing technology field is busting with opportunities in many divers directions. The first time I used a 3D Printer I was just amazed at the technology and wanted to know more about it. My desire is to hold a position within a 3D Printing Company developing new mechanical product integrated with electronic controls for improving manufacturing. I foresee my title being Mechanical/Controls & Automation Engineer. In this position as a mechanical/Controls & Automation Engineer I would have a variety of responsivities. In this position …show more content…
Although 3D printers are mechanical, they do have some electronics in them, and as the electronic technology continues to expand it is being interrogated into mechanical devices; thus and Electronic Engineering Degree will be integrated in to my profession. The Mechatronics Degree will give me the industrial and manufacturing degree required for many positions within the Automation Engineering fields. 3D Printing is working towards a future of printing out functioning devices that have electronics already imbedded inside when printed. (reference N Mexico) Electronics sensors will be driving more devices and robots, and changing our manufacturing world as we know it. With my Mechanical design experience and managerial background, this Electronics Degree will enhance my professional field. 3D Printing is working towards a future of printing out functioning devices that have electronics already imbedded inside when printed. In order for this technology to develop, Materials engineers must be involved in driving the combination of many different materials to be able to print at the same time and possibly fuse …show more content…
As I have witnessed the changes in our technology and with the 3D Printing, and its possible advantages in manufacturing; I perceive a new direction that is wide open for my career. 3D Printing will integrate many different engineering expertise as it develops products that will be integrated with Electronic technology into the manufacturing world. For example take a look at the robotic human prosthetic hand with micro motors and sensors that is printed from a 3D Printer, talked about in the article done by Dr. Chwan-Hsen Chen (pg 1 section1). Now consider those tiny electronic sensors being embedded within the material as the 3D Printer builds the prosthetic hand. What an amazing technology that would be.
