The world revolves around order, without order the world would be chaotic. Law enforcement helps maintain this requirement. It is a deterrent for most but not all, my aspiration is to investigate those who do not obey the law, helping individuals and the community. My true desire is to work within the criminal investigation department as a scene of crime officer so this degree will initiate possible career options, assisting me with moving my career in the right direction.
Although challenging I find Biology and Chemistry fascinating subjects. They have taught me to use my knowledge to solve a problem as the subjects are based around applying knowledge. Maths demonstrates my ability to work with numerical aspects and my problem solving skills. Studying History helps to develop my written skills, skills which would be potentially useful in the future as they would enable me to complete written assignments and essays to a high level whilst it also serves to develop my critical thinking skills. Studying crime and punishment in History revealed its incredible progression, from Jack the Ripper to modern day technology it has been an amazing transformation and its only going to keep improving which is why I would like to broaden my knowledge in the area and study it at degree level. Kathy Reichs is my favourite author, her anthropological series driven by her first hand experience, gave me an insight on the everyday life in the area and the differing cases to encounter. It has stimulated my interest from a young age, encouraging me to read more around the area to allow me to form some background knowledge before starting the course, including cases such as that of Madeleine McCann.
