Clinical Psychologist Career Goals

I want to show the world what I can do. Helping people has become my passion. It will be my future. In 2014, I saved my best friend's life as she went through her stages of depression. In that stage, she attempted suicide at school. She overdosed on pills and had a seizure right in front of me an in that moment I just knew i was put on this Earth for a special reason. Just about every day, I reach out to other teens from all over the world who are struggling with mental health disorders (depression, anxiety, eating and sleeping disorders) on social media. The majority of the time, I give advice and help them cope with their issues but sometimes I just listen. I don't have the answers to every situation, but I do try to be that friend that

Even though people might be battling the same disorders they aren't always predictable. Some people handle situations differently and that is exactly where researching is necessary. My goals are to be able conduct as much research as I possibly can so that I can find a solution to everyone's problem. Researching plays a major role because it helps psychologist understand how people think and behave, which then helps determine which psychological disorder they do have. It also play an important role when finding not just effective but appropriate treatments for all our patients. Majoring and getting a degree in psychology means I would be able to work with like-minded people who share the passion and love as I do. This major will provide me with a head start on how to conduct effective research while I develop teamwork and networking skills that I know will later be essential in my career as a clinical
