Feigenbaum was recently proposed as a suspect by former British murder squad detective Trevor Marriott, in the paperback edition of the 2007 book – Jack the Ripper the 21st Century Investigation. Carl Ferdinand Feigenbaum, who was also known by the aliases Karl Feigenbaum, Anton Zahn, Karl Zahn and according to Marriott, possibly Strohband. Was executed by electric chair at Sing Sing prison on Monday the 27 April 1896, for the murder of 56 year old widow, Juliana Hoffman. The murder had occurred on 1 September 1894 in a two room apartment above a store at 544 East Sixth Street, New York. On 1 September 1894 at 1.00 am. Mrs Hoffman's son, 16 year old Michael, who shared a room with his mother was awoken by a scream, and witnessed Fiegenbaum, who had recently taken a room there, standing over her, a large knife, in his hand. Fiegenbaum lunged at the boy, but Michael fled through an open window. Fiegenbaum cut Mrs Hoffman’s throat, before fleeing out of the rear window, throwing the knife away as he fled, he was arrested later that night. Fiegenbaum told his lawyer. …show more content…
