The U.S. Soccer Federation was founded on April 5th, 1913. A non-profit organization, it acts as the governing body of soccer in the United States of America. This means U.S. Soccer controls all ametuer and proffesional soccer teams in the United States, such as the men’s and women's national teams. U.S. Soccer is governed by a Board of Directors and administers the affairs of U.S. Soccer as a whole. The key leadership positions associated with this group are the president, Carlos Cordeiro, and the longtime CEO and secretary general, Dann Flynn. Coming off of the most disappointing year in U.S. Soccer history, Cordeiro soundly won the 2018 presidential election, earning a staggering 68.6 percent of votes over all other candidates and dwindled the hope of many soccer-loving citizens in the United States. Being one of the two insider candidates for the job along with Cathy Karter, Cordeiro has provoked a majority of despising and uninspired attitudes amongst the US Soccer community.
