Carly Fiorina is an American Republican politician who is a running candidate for presidency in the 2016 United States Presidential election. She was born on September 6, 1954 in Austin, Texas. Her father was involved in the government and he served as a Deputy U.S. Attorney General and a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Fiorina attended many schools including Channing School in London which she attended when she was younger, and five high schools, Charles E. Jordan High School in Durham, North Carolina being the one she graduated from. She attended college at Stanford where she received a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and medieval history in 1976. She was raised Episcopalian, but currently identifies as a nondenominational Christian. She considers herself pro-life and she has said that she wishes to ban abortions 20 weeks after fertilization. There are exceptions to this in the case of rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother. She wants to eliminate Federal funding of Planned Parenthood and she stated this in a September 2015 Republican presidential candidates’ debate. Originally, in her 2010 U.S Senate campaign, she was all for Common Core, No Child Left Behind, as well as the Race to the Top. She thought that these were all great programs that were setting high standards for students. Now, her views have changed drastically. She is currently against all of these programs and believes that they are too standardized and that they are failing the nation. Her new outlook on education seems to be a positive qualification, but there is no proof that she has actually changed her view on the subject.
