In order to understand the concept of “Oikeios” it is important to first understand the two terms: Cartesian binary and dialectical dualism. Cartesian binary is the prevalent concept of capitalism that asserts that there is no relation between human society and nature. Although capitalism is totally dependent upon the nature, as it gets the fuel (fossils) from it, but it values nature as a mere entity running in a background. On the contrary, dialectical dualism looks at the problem in its totality. It accepts that nature and human are not separate, but in fact are intertwined with each other, and capitalism is deeply inherited in nature through complex relations.
