Popular Groups During The British Invasion

When people think of popular bands they generally think of a group of musicians who are really good. However, once one looks past the surface it becomes evident that these bands are talented musicians with the minds of businessmen. This was specifically seen during the “British Invasion”, which was a period in time where music from Britain became popular in the United States. The main three hit groups from England were The Beatles, The Who and The Rolling Stones. Through great planning these groups became popular. The bands were promoted to their target markets perfectly, they also used television, radio, and interesting elements of their concerts all to their advantage. However, the question remains, would their marketing strategies work for new groups today or not? Lastly, if I was in charge of marketing a group today what would be my strategy?

My strategy would be fairly simple, modernize the strategies that worked over 50 years ago. Obviously, radio ads are somewhat outdated and a better route for a group participating in ads would to be to create ads for popular websites and apps such as YouTube, Spotify, and Pandora Radio. TV ads and appearances would still be very successful, however, their would be many more opportunities. Lastly, the element of an image of a band built on concert could become far more successful.
