1.0 INTRODUCTION AmBank was established on August 1975 by an Arab-Malaysian named Ahmad Najadi and the AmBank Group has been recognised as one of the largest banking group in Malaysia. The current Group chairman is Tan Sri Azman Hashim The AmBank Group compromises of the AMMB Holdings Berhad, which is a public listed company on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia in 1981. The Ambank Group consists of AmBank Berhad, AmInvestment Bank Berhad, AmBank Islamic Berhad, and AmGeneral Insurance Berhad. AmBank had adopted a more prudent balance sheet management by growing its auto financing portfolio in a selective manner in order to solve the problem. With the challenging external environment facing AmBank plus the need to pay a penalty of RM49.7 million imposed by Bank Negara for breaches in respect of transaction occurred in previous financial years, had made AmBank to be part of the Group’s efforts to improve the Groups’s overall compliance programme. Although with this said, it is not expected to cause any major change into the price trends given the stable domestic demand condition.
