The Hellenic Museum opened in 1992, on Michigan Avenue. Then, however, in 2004, the Hellenic Museum was relocated to Greektown due to its local area. People were pursuing to escape famine and war of their countries as well as conflicts with others. They were neither of class nor importance. They were common people without a home. It was simple people seeking to reinstate a simple life. Greeks came seeking for opportunities, and with it, lead more, intending to one day return with gold for their family and prosperous country. They had begun as food vendors, and by gain, became restaurant owners over the years. Their food was distinct, leaving an aroma and aftertaste that were prominent. Over the later century, the Greeks began to increase and spread, were settling over a triangular construct area: Harrison, Blue Island and Halsted, known as Greek Delta at the date, later established as Greektown, present - day. During the mid - 1960s, the Greeks were displaced by the Eisenhower Expressway and the University of Illinois at Chicago, compelled to re – settle north. Because at the time people saw the expansion of the city and the education of the children were more crucial than the flourishing souls of an unknown growing and thriving community. The attention to the significance was not yet acknowledged. Yet, the hardship done was neither benign nor adverse.
