Vinoy Place Condominium Association is a luxury high rise property with the goal of being the premier property of downtown St. Petersburg. With 102 condo units valued over $500 per square foot and an annual budget of over 1.5 million it is critical that Vinoy Place operates at a highly effective level. From my observations of the Vinoy Place entities I do believe they achieve this goal. What I saw was an extremely strong board of directors who pay attention to detail, understand their roles, and ensure they fulfil their fiduciary duties to the association. The highly intelligent and qualified board oversees a strong manager, Jill Silverman, who is highly praised by them.
The typology that best describes case number four would be Locality Development. This is because residents lack a relationship with not only the gang member but also the police. These residents lack the ability to come forward about gang members in order to make the neighborhood safe due to blackmail. By conducting the meetings with the police it is a start in turning the community in a better direction. This is because the residences are the police’s main source since they have knowledge about the gangs, where they live and most importantly what they’re up to on a daily business.
As you know our company has been dealing with Midwest Sparkleen for the past four years. In cities across America race has been a crucial line of demarcation. The Origins of the Urban Crisis and Saving the Neighborhood show how race transformed American cities, towns, and neighborhoods. “From Rural South to Metropolitan Sunbelt” demonstrates how racial prejudices lingered in Montgomery County, Texas, evan after racial residential segregation and racially restrictive covenants were proscribed. The Origins of the Urban Crisis by Thomas J. In the excerpt of “My Neighborhood Makes It Easier To Get Pregnant Than To Go To College,’ Shanice Joseph explains her community’s situation, going over the immense amount of resources for mothers and the lack of resources for those that want to attend college. She struggled with the commute to her school, necessities for college, and had concerns about whether she would be able to pay off her rent. To conclude her argument, her community makes it easier to get pregnant than to attend college.
Downtown Eastside Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada is a low income area, infamous for its drug use, prostitution and crime (Bingham et al., 2014). An estimated 70% of sex workers in the Downtown Eastside Vancouver sex trade are Aboriginal women who are “in their early 20’s and also mothers” (Bingham et al., 2014, para. 4). Aboriginal women are over represented in street sex trade due to colonial ramifications (Hunt, 2013). This statistic goes to demonstrate the demographics of the sex trade in Downtown Eastside Vancouver; the sex workers are young and need to provide for their family, thus continuing in the sex trade is their only opportunity to generate economic stability. Such trade and profession however comes with the price of working in a high risk environment, where they are vulnerable to predators, looking to harm them.
