In the poem “Casey at the bat” and the story “David and Goliath,” a comparision of David and Casey shows differences and similarities. One similarity between the two is that, they both are confident that they will win. One piece of evidence from “David and Goliath” says, “Sir, I have killed lions and bears that way, and I can kill this worthless Philistine. He shouldn’t have made fun of the army of the living God! 37 The Lord has rescued me from the claws of lions and bears, and he will keep me safe from the hands of this Philistine.” In “Casey at the bat” it says “There was ease in Casey’s manner as he stepped into his place; There was pride in Casey’s bearing and a smile on Casey’s face. But in “Casey at the Bat” you just tell by Casey’s behavior that he believes he will hit a homerun and save the day. Another similarity is that is that they both were fortunate at one point in the story.
