The story is about a junior in high school named Holden Cauldfield. Holden starts to narrate the story the day he was expelled from boarding school Pencey. Before he left he got a letter from his old professor who invited him over before he leaves. Holden went to see him even though he knew that all that was waiting for him was a lecture about getting ax in his classes and not caring about his future. And that was exactly what he got along with getting extremely annoyed because he was not exactly fond of old sick people. He finally got back to his dorm room but he was still pretty annoyed. Holden hesitated but said yes. Few minutes after he got to his room someone knocked on the door. It was the girl. Her name was Sunny. It was obvious that she just wanted to get it over with, take her money and leave but Holden wanted to talk. After a while he told her that she was really nice but that he recently got a surgery and that he wasn´t feeling well enough to do it. He gave her the 5 bucks he promised to Maurice but she started arguing with him that it was supposed to be 10. Eventually she left but after a while he heard a knock on the door again. It was Sunny accompanied with Maurice who demanded the additional 5 bucks. They took the money and Maurice punched him in the face as he was leaving. Holden was pretty depressed at this point and he decided to call Sally Hayes and go on a date with her. He thought she was beautiful, but then again snotty and stupid. He took her to see a play because she loved theather even though he contempted with the play, actors and the plot. Later they went to the park and they sat in a bar and they were talking and he was trying to convince her to run away with him, to Vermont or New Hampshire and to start a new life with him, away from everyone and everything he
