The Hunger games saga is continued with a second film, Catching Fire, an science fiction action film set in a dystopian era. Directed by Francis Lawrence in 2013, the film is based on the Hunger Games novel trilogy, written by Suzanne Collins. The plot of Catching Fire is set almost a year after the 74th Annual Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen has returned home safely after winning the Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Katniss and Peeta, without intention has sparked a rebellion across the districts. President Snow has warned her to not show any sort of rebellion or harm will come to her family. When it comes time for the Games again it happens to be the Quarter Quell, which means they put a twist on the Games. And this time, there will only be one winner. It ends up that the Rebels had been working with the other tributes to devise a plan to rescue Katniss and the remaining tributes. Katniss ends up being picked up by the Rebels, but the Capital gets to Peeta first, and District 12 is left in ruins. The film has earned over $865 million worldwide and is currently the highest-grossing entry in the Hunger Games series.
Throughout the Hunger Games trilogy, Katniss Everdeen played by Jennifer Lawrence, and Peeta Mellark played by Josh Hutcherson, are the main characters. Focusing more on Katniss, she is the 17 year old protagonist and female tribute of District 12. Having long, black hair, usually in a braid, gray eyes, and fair skin (olive skin in the novel). She is thin and not very tall, but is strong for her size from the hunting she does outside of District 12 to feed her family. She also wears a pin of a mockingjay during the games to represent good luck. Katniss is a dynamic character, at the start of The Hunger Games Trilogy, her
