The Reformation happened in 1517 when people asked for a reform of the Catholic Church and weren’t given one. The Catholic Church was criticised for the way it was run. Before the Reformation, the church was lying for their own benefit, its leaders were also selfish and disobeyed the rules. There were many criticisms of the church and most were of its leaders. The Pope was criticised or acting more like a king than a humble religious man. The Pope was also targeted because of his need for wealth and charging large sums of money, people thought the Pope was greedy and not worthy of his job. The pope wasn’t the only one, Cardinals and Bishops were criticised for their lack of presence at church services. They were lazy and would be absent from their role not forgetting they would have more than one job, which is not allowed. Many Priests and Monks were targeted because of their inexperience and lack of education, meaning they were unable to properly teach. From this fatal flaw in the system church members did not know the teaching of their faith. To put all these criticisms into categories we can use four sections. Pluralism: to have more than one job. He grew up with strict parents, believing in an angry god. One day he was saved from a terrible storm and then became a monk.
