Transition is often a definitive word for an unfathomable time in one’s life. Synonyms to transition is change, conversion, and metamorphosis. They all mean the same thing when it happens to someone-when everything changes.
In the novel Fangirl, Cath experiences a rapid transition period when she goes to college. First off, she is left by her twin sister, who doesn’t want to room with her due to ‘social differences’. The way Wren admittedly pushed away from Cath during the summer and school time had proved of her sister’s willingness to move on from their ‘twin life’. Throughout the book, Cath and Wren become much more distant, alike the one night she sent a ‘911’ text, meaning emergency. Cath rushed to the bar her sister was in, despite her sleepwear attire, where Wren was drunk, and had meant to send the text to Courtney, her roommate. She doesn’t pay too much attention to Cath, and walks off with Courtney, whilst continuing to be drunk. This shows her transition away from Cath as sisters

As a young child, her mother left her, along with her twin, so the two of them had to learn how to get used to the fact that their mother was there, willing to get to know them. Her father, on the other hand had to adjust without his daughters (and Cath vice versa). She was used to taking care of him, due to his bipolar mentality, and had landed at the hospital without her help. Their transition had also greatly affected Wren’s relationship with her father, how she heavily disrespected his wishes for her to stop drinking after she had gotten alcohol poisoning.
Through the examples of relationships, location, and time, we experience transition as a willing theme throughout the novel Fangirl. The years after high school are often difficult, and usually takes time to get used to. As transition wraps its arms around Cath and her journey through college, through its other three years. what more changes can we
