Cato’s direct competitors are Ascena Retail Group Inc. (ASNA), The TJX Companies, Inc, (TJX) and Industry (Apparel Stores). Ascena Retail Group, Inc. owns stores that carry women's clothing, shoes and accessories. ASNA has five branches to their company: Justice, Lane Bryant, Maurices, Dressbarn and Catherines. Justice stores has its own brand of clothes and targets ages 7 to 14. Lane Bryant stores target the plus size women. Maurices has two branches: maurices and Studio Y. Maurices carries women’s clothing and accessories. Studio Y has more women's dressy apparel in the stores. Dressbarn targets the working woman in work and casual wear.Catherines offers more classic apparel and accessories. The TJX Cos., Inc. sells apparel and home furnishings in the US and oversees. The different stores are Marmaxx, HomeGoods, TJX Canada and TJX Europe. Marmaxx runs T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. It sells apparel for everyone and home furnishings. HomeGoods has off-price home décor.
