Imagine you’re walking through the streets of New York, it’s a beautiful day. Then suddenly you hear a crash, the ground starts to shake, people are panicking. What happened? You may ask yourself. Well this is September 11, 2001. In other words 9/11. This experience brought widespread terror, but even the worst of it can become hope, if you let it. On September 11, twelve year old Helaina was just at school, it was a normal day, then terror struck. A plane had crashed into the south tower of the World Trade Center. 72 minutes after, a second plane had crashed into the north tower. This was known as 9/11. When the teachers announced everyone need to go home Helaina’s parents were at work. Her Dad was in Staten Island while her mom was far uptown. Helaina would have to go to the safe zone with the rest of the kids. Then, her neighbor Ann arrived and agreed to take her home. Ever since that day, Helaina had nightmares. After seeing lots of doctors, she finally got diagnosed with PTSD which stands for post traumatic stress disorder. Helaina was inspired by this, soon she will …show more content…

He had grown up in a world that believed that all Muslims are evil, but those Muslims believe in killing for punishment. The truth is, all religions have extremists. People don’t listen to the story of 3.3 million Muslims in America who believe that killing is a crime against God and what they believe in. These stereotypes inspired him to make the Muslim Student Association. This Association was made to address the lies about Muslims. He was even the first Muslim student body president! He has had emotional terror through his whole life, people called his religion evil, he grew up watching stereotypes about his people on TV, when he was running for student body president a student even tweeted “If you vote for RJ you obviously enjoy nine eleven.” Now, this negativity makes him want to make more change.
