September 11th 2001 is a day America will never forget. Two hijacked planes flew into the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Thousands of people died and many were left either homeless or jobless. 9/11 was said to be the worst terrorist attack in U.S history. This was the day the U.S woke up and realized that we aren’t as safe from the outside world as we previously thought. At 8:47am, AA flight 11 hit the north tower of the World Trade Center (Frank 1). The plane crashed through the tower at 470 mph (Schier 8). Shortly after at 9:03am flight 175 crashed into the south tower (timeline September 11th 2001). Soon after the second plane crashed, the north tower collapsed to the ground. Eventually the south tower collapsed too. Many people died because of the toxic dust and falling debris (Hampton 25). The fourth plane, flight 93 crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. It crashed there because the passengers on the plane were courageous enough to fight the terrorists (Buell 45). The intended target of the hijacked plane was thought to be either the White House or the Capital Building. The passengers and flight attendants saved thousands of lives by fighting back (Buell 46). There were 19 terrorists involved in the attacks. The terrorists were working for a terrorist group called Al-Qaeda from Saudi Arabia led by Osama bin Laden (“9/11 Attack”). The attack was not just something they decided to do that day. The had lived in the U.S for years trying to fit in while making their plan (Buell 12). Al-Qaeda’s religion teaches peace and caring for others but they killed over 3,000 people in the name of Islam because they hated America (Buell 13). America and the world will never be the same because of
