E-cigarettes have been getting more and more popular over time, especially among younger adults. In Shenzhen, China they produce about 90% of (unregulated) the world’s e-cigarettes. They ship about 300 million e-cigarettes to the United States. In China, hundreds of manufacturers operate with little oversight, which experts say that sloppy manufacturing could be obligated to the heavy metals and other dangerous compounds found in the e-cigarettes.
To make e-cigarettes they start off by turning stainless steel rods into slender tube casings. Some study discovered that e-cigarette vapor contains hazardous materials nickel and chromium that was 4 times the amount in regular cigarette smoke.
There have been reports of the battery inside the e-cigarette exploding. In one case, a man from florida’s e-cigarette blew up in his face caused by a faulty battery. The explosion left him in the hospital with severe burns, missing his front teeth and a chunk of his tongue. He switched to e-cigarettes to try and quit smoking.
E-cigarettes could lead teens on to trying tobacco. E-cigarettes are highly addictive and do contain dangerous chemicals such as nicotine, in the e-liquid. Nicotine is highly addictive, it could cause cardiovascular disease, birth defects, and poisoning.

They are toxic because the e-liquid used for the vapor contains liquid nicotine. Also, the FDA tested two popular brands and found that there were cancer causing chemicals. One other problem with e-cigarettes is that some manufacturers operate with little oversight, which could lead to problems like a faulty battery that leads to the cases stated earlier where the battery exploded as the man was using his e-cigarette.
