In 2020 the most shocking, unforgettable, and traumatic event took place in Minneapolis. A man known as George Floyd was murdered by four former Minneapolis police officers. On May 25, 2020 it was a normal day in Minneapolis. George Floyd was a 46-year-old black man who was arrested after an employee at a convinete store called 911. The employee told the Minneapolis Police that George Floyd was trying to purchase cigarettes with a $20 bill that was contourfit. When the first squad car arrived on the scene it took them a total of seventeen minutes. By the time they arrived George Floyd was already pinned beneath three police officers, showing no sign of life. He was uncontious. The jury found Officer Chauvin guilty of all charges. He was sentenced to twenty-two and a half years in prison. For many that don’t know George Floyd was a father of 5 children. After the sentencing of Officer Chauvin, a lot of people and celebrities paid their respects to his family. Kanye West caught the attention of the media who donated $2 million dollars to his daughter Giana to cover all of her college tuition. This tragic incident with George Floyd sparked many protests and a lot of people who were demanding a solution so this incident. A panel called The Murder Of George Floyd: A Nation Responds was a tv-like documentary that aired a couple months after the murder of George Floyd.. This panel was known to help the people and their families explore the options, and was also known for the world to share their feelings and thoughts.
