“My only love sprung from my only hate.” The Montagues and Capulets have an ancient feud and they are only maintaining what their ancestors started. But one day that changed. In William Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet, there are 3 major types of love and they have strong impacts on the decision and actions of the characters in Romeo and Juliet, which results in tragic deaths. Love is something so powerful that you can not control it even if it is family love, friend love, and romantic love. They all have a big impact on everything that happens, good or bad. First and foremost, family love in Romeo and Juliet has a major impact on the teens' lives and the plot of Romeo and Juliet. For example, the Nurse affected love positively by keeping up and encouraging Juliet in her nonsense. The Nurse helped arrange their marriage. She also helped them meet before Romeo was sent to banish. And she helps in so many different ways. Another way friend love is shown in the play is between Mercutio and Romeo. Mercutio and Romeo were talking about love and Mercutio stated “If love be rough with you, be rough will love” (I.iv 27). This means love is a mental and physical challenge when love is rough with you, you are rough using love. Mercutio and Romeo were best friends so they should protect each other. Mercutio had anger issues and did not think before getting involved. So when Romeo arrives at the sense Tybalt tries to provoke him to fight but Romeo refuses to fight Tybalt, Mercutio accepts the challenge. As best friends, Romeo went in between them and tried talking Mercutio out of it but Tybalt jabbed his sword when Mercutio was distracted and he could not see it because it went under Romeo's arm. Mercutio was bleeding out and blamed it on Romeo for getting in between; Mercutio sent a curse over their houses.
