Lately there has been discussions going on about the substandard act of corruption that is at high prevalence in our society and there is a concern on the impact it may have on our development in Namibia. What is corruption? This is an act of misuse of power usually political for the benefit of private gain. According to the (Business Dictionary, 2016), “Wrongdoing on the part of an authority or powerful party through means that are illegitimate, immoral, or incompatible with ethical standards. Corruption often results from patronage and is associated with bribery.” I strongly agree to the fact that it led to the bane of sustainable development in Namibia. “If I am not mistaken only 14 percent (%) of the Namibian population are benefitting from the Namibian economy while the rest of population is suffering.” (Kaseven, 2004). Corruption hampers development on the basis of corruption on people, society and economy.

There is retardation on development that is caused by corruption on people. The main reason for this is the fact that there is an outburst of injustice behavior due to corruption. …show more content…

The main solution to this problem is to start from the roots. A good example is anti-corruption campaigns ACC. This is a tool that was established to eradicate corruption and for development of Namibia. If this could be upheld then improvements shall prosper. Another solution is for president Pohamba’s statement that ‘zero tolerance for corruption’ to be implemented as it may eradicate this unlawful however certain solutions must be brought into manifestation for it to work. We should tackle this from the roots. Other solutions is to make government spending transparent and to deploy technology that could trace any suspicious activity and all corrupt persons should be judged. They should be taken to court and
