Fahrenheit 451 there is a lot of different social tension in the story about intelligence and ignorance. For example many people are not very smart for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons people aren't smart is because they have no access to prior knowledge from before this dystopian world. For example they burn all the books which causes them to not think for themselves and see what the world was like before this dystopian world took over. Also in the story since people aren't able to think for themselves this causes them to be controlled easily by their government which causes them to have too much trust in their government. But since everyone is relied on the government and can't really think for themselves this causes them to be “sheep” For example in the story beatty says “this is how we control the sheep.” Now what …show more content…
She is also mentioning some of the ways she does that. For example One way the government controls the sheep (People) is by destroying all prior knowledge of the world before this dystopian one had takin over.Also reading these books can causes many other people to realize that this world is one they dont like and that they may start to take action against the government to stop them. Also books can cause people to think and develop their own independent thoughts and can also cause them to not rely on the government for everything. And without people dependent on the government the government would slowly start to lose control of the people which eventually will cause the end of the government's power over the people. Another way the government controls what the people think is through their educational system for example on page 27 it says “Do you know we never ask questions, or atleast most don’t; they just run the answers at you.” Now this shows another example of how they control their people by them having fear in them to not ask questions and to just go with everything.
