Most of the developing countries especially in the Sub- Saharan Africa are facing a lot of challenges in alleviating poverty. As poor leadership style and misappropriation of public resources are some of the notable causes of widespread poverty levels in the continent, it should be noted that most of the causes of poverty are manageable and substantial development levels can be achieved. In our focus to Ghana, most of the causes of poverty are human perpetrated despite poor climatic condition having a hand on the matter. The country has had a series of poor leadership run which have resulted in the mismanagement of public property. Furthermore, sidelining of women in development agendas has also contributed to increased levels of poverty and governments should take note of the role they play in development matters hence take a noble move to empower them. With the rejuvenation of government efforts and approaching leadership with a sober mind and heart to serve humanity, African leaders can be on the move to change the developmental face of this continent and make it a resourceful hub of opportunities.
