There were many events that led to the Civil War. The Civil War was a battle between the Southern Pro-Slavery states and the Northern Anti-Slavery states. The Civil War began on April 12, 1861. Events that led up to the Civil War included the confederacy established, and the attack on Fort Sumter. After South Carolina seceded from the Union, other Southern states's leaders debated to withdrawal from the Union. By February 1861, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida had joined South Carolina and seceded. This new nation was called the Confederacy.
