After World War l, the Treaty of Versailles was signed. This treaty led to a lot of conflicts eventually leading to World War ll. The conflicts formed as a result of the Treaty of Versailles led to the Germans being outraged and starting the uproar of World War ll. This treaty meant that Germany would have to take all the blame for World War l and pay the reparations from the war and the damage caused. Germany was angry due to the fact that they couldn’t afford to pay the reparations and they felt it was unfair because they also suffered during the war. The Treaty of Versailles meant that Germany would get land taken away from them. Document B states “Germany must not exceed one hundred thousand men, including officers…” This left Germany with very little protection which means that they are more vulnerable. They didn’t approve of these restrictions and definitely didn’t like them. Reparations caused great fury in Germany. Reparations are a form of payments. The author states that “The Commission shall…draw up a schedule of payments prescribing the time and manner for securing and discharging the entire obligations within a period of thirty years from May 1, 1921” They had to pay off 341 billion dollars worth of reparations (according to
US dollars in 2010). These reparations were to be paid off over a period of 30 years. Germany thought this was unfair because they couldn’t afford to pay off the costs and because they too suffered during the war. Lastly Germany had to take blame for World War l. This quote describes how Germany felt, “It undermines…a sense of worth, their value of themselves.” Germany felt pathetic and weak after having to take the blame for the war. Germany felt an uprising in enthusiasm when the Nazi regime arose. When Hitler began to come to power he restored a sense of pride and awakened the respect that they had for themselves.
