Family History Paper Looking back at ones family history is important for the individual to understand where they came from and to understand how their history help shaped them to become the person who are today. Not only is it important to understand where someone’s family came from, but also the story of their life and how society shaped them during their time. Looking back on the Matuke and Rico family history each families had similar life experiences, but also some of the aspects did differ from one another. Both families can be traced back by several generations. By analyzing the family history, one can get an understanding their lives and how it effects each generation. was born on May 5, 1935. He lived in Bartlett with his parents hand other siblings (in total there was seven kids) because that is where his family settled to work on a farm. His sisters would end up taking care of him due their mother passing away shortly after he was born. He only attended school up until the second grade where he was able to gain reading and writing skills, but also learned how to speak English (Rose Rico). When he was growing up he would pick and chop cotton, help tend to the farm, and chop wood. Later on when he was 18 years old he would marry Pauline (who he knew his entire life) and they would go on to have eight kids together (Rose Rico). Before Rose (the youngest) would be born they moved to Thrall, Texas which was a very small rural town that located on the Missouri Pacific Railroad, located six miles east of Taylor, and along U.S Highway 79 (Odintz 483), where he would become a farmer and work on the field from sunrise to sunset (12 hours) and sometimes work seven days a week (if he was off it would be on Sunday), but on average he would work six days a week (Rose Rico). He worked as a farmer for several years, but then he went on to do factory work at Anderson-Clayton factory. The factory was located in Thorndale, Texas, and he worked there for a few years being a wielder. She was born on September 9, 1965. She lived part of her childhood out in Thrall were she experienced the country life. When she was growing up, her and her siblings had to do work around the house and the girls also had to help out either cleaning or cooking. For Rose, she did not learn how to cook until the age of sixteen because by that time she was the only daughter left in the house. When growing up her mother mostly cooked traditional Mexican food and all of the meals she made were made from scratch. She also grew up in a bilingual environment so she learned how to speak English and Spanish, but mostly used English because of the domains she was placed in such as school or interacting with other people who did not know Spanish (Rose Rico). Even so, when at home the family would often switch between languages when interacting with one another. When she was in the fifth grade they moved to Bartlett due to her father finding a job at a factory and also they could be closer to family. Rose used to like to do various activities when she was younger such as play outside or spend time with her friends. During the summer Rose would work at various summer jobs since at the time Bartlett was a small prosperous town with over ninety businesses (Odiniz 401), but eventually Rose would not continue to work her jobs and would baby sit her nieces and nephews. Rose attended the high school in Bartlett and graduated in 1987
