Are cell phones ruining our social skills? Are cell phones ruining our social skills? In my opinion they are! More than 46% of people in the world use technology to communicate with people instead of face - to - face interactions. Also in the article by Erin Stewart called:does cell phone use really affect our communication skills? She states “more friends text more than they would talk in an conversation they have in person”. Cell Phones have lots of effects on human like, the apps on phones, long distance calls, & people that are addicted or obsessed with their phone & many more. To me cellphones do have an effect in our society but sometimes phones aren’t really that bad. People you haven’t seen in years, you can contact by calling or even texting on a cellphone. But at the same time that person you haven’t seen in forever, when you finally see them it's no conversation. Also in the article [Siowfal5] the writer says “ in social contact, skills and face - to - face interaction are damaged through impersonal communication by certain individuals”. So many people around the world are obsessed or addicted to their phone. At Baylor University a student did a project on how long does the average person stay on his/her phone a day and he states “the average person stays on their phone 10 hours a day”.Cell Phones can cause college students have problems with teachers or professors, and the cellphone can distract the average person from whats going on around them.
