There are many books and plays that have been written for our enjoyment, and they have been read aloud and enjoyed for years. A very important thing to take from any kind of story is a lesson you can learn from it, or the central idea that it's portraying. The main idea that is illustrated in this play is that we should have goodness of heart and a brave spirit in all our thoughts and deeds. Such inner qualities will benefit anyone's life and help them become a more well-rounded person. The main idea in Act 1 is that Henry had changed from a reckless youth to a wise ruler who was ready to lead with strength and goodness. Henry demonstrates this change in character in how he interacts with his people. A hint to his past is given when Dauphin taunts him with tennis balls, alluding to his rash and youthful self. Henry shows his courage in wanting to go and conquer France, but also he shows his kindness and restraint when he expresses his worries for his people, and how he doesn’t want unnecessary bloodshed. “For never two such kingdoms did contend without much fall of blood, whose guiltless drops ‘gainst him whose wrongs gives edge unto the swords that makes such waste in brief mortality.” (Act.1 Sc.2 Ln. 28-32) In these words Henry demonstrated his goodness of heart, which ties back into the main …show more content…
This is the main idea of Act three, demonstrated by several people in this portion of the play. First, Bardolph cowardly stole something, which had a negative effect on his character, no matter what age he was. Second, dauphin had the courage to go to war despite his father’s wishes, even though his father was much older. Third, a boy spoke about how Nym, Pistol, and Bardolph were cowardly, all of which whom were much older than the boy, yet he showed much more wisdom than them, and the courage to speak his opinion.
