In the short story “the diary kept” by Admiral Richard the author reveals the central idea of loneliness and hopelessness. This short story is mainly about a boy being alone in a hut at Bolling Advance Weather Base in Antarctica for five months in 1934, with outside temperature reaching 83 degrees. Some evidence that I have are him being able to come back to a world that he thought was lost, him feeling hopeless and living in a world of imaginations. Next, he felt like he was in a world that he thought was lost and that he thought he’ll never be in again. The author writes , “All that need to be said is that eventually my faith began to make itself felt; and by concentrating on it and reaffirming the truth about the universe as I saw it,
