My appointment to General McLane’s LINK Crew is an amazing opportunity to gain leadership training and utilize it within my local community. LINK Crew is a faculty-appointed organization that utilizes forty driven juniors and seniors to help transfer students and incoming freshman become orientated to the high school culture and rules. Leaders act as student mentors for new kids by helping them find their classes, teaching them small life-lessons, and introducing them to faculty, teachers, and other new students. Some speeches really make a difference to Americans. Both Bill Clinton and Robert F. Kennedy have speeches that send powerful messages to their audiences. The speech, “A Eulogy For Martin Luther King, Jr.” by Robert F. Kennedy, was a news breaking event and eulogy for the death of Martin Luther King, given to African Americans and all Americans. Bill Clinton’s “Oklahoma Bombing Memorial Address” was given as a memorial speech to the families of the Oklahoma bombing victims and to all Americans. Both were somber and mournful in tone.
Today we will be visiting the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial in Washington D.C. It was dedicated by Barack Obama and was established in October of 2014. Good times to visit are from 10 am to 4 pm. The must see list is The voices of the Veterans, the reflecting pool, and the star fountain & ceremonial flame. First we will be seeing the Wall of Gratitude and is a quote from George Washington from 1783.
The annual Phi Alpha Theta (PAT) initiation brunch is one of the most exciting events to take place every year. It took place on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Alta Vista Country Club in Placentia and it was nice to see familiar faces, while meeting the new members of the organization. Guest enjoyed some omelets, prime rib, and pancakes, while Dr. William Haddad gave a powerful talk entitled “An Ode to Secular Tyrants: Reflections on the History of the Modern Middle East.” After the keynote, address came the initiation ceremony that included the traditional reading of the “Six Ages” of History. Populism in the 1890’s derived of racial controversies that damaged the movement from progressing into mainstream politics. Populist activists envisioned a system where there would be economic and political reform, but they failed to embrace minorities in this system. The issue of racial politics caused racial divisions within the Populist party, made African Americans loose trust in the Populists efforts to promote initiatives that mattered to them, and failed to racially be progressive in combating discriminatory laws in the 1890’s. To understand how racial politics impeded the opportunity of Populist progression, we need to evaluate the Populists viewpoints on racial integration, the desires of reform that African Americans strived for, and the role African American voters played in politics. ` From the 1890’s, historian C.Vann Woodward and Lawrence Goodwyn analyzed the racial politics behind the populist movement and stated, “white populists had challenging racial taboo’s, only to have their courageous efforts of unity between white and blacks
I was very honored to know that I qualified as a possible candidate for the National Honor Society. To be honest, I never thought of being in the National Honor Society. Therefore, when I got pulled out of class I immediately thought I had done something wrong. I went home that day and told my mom about it. My mom looked me in the eyes and told me that she was very proud of me and gave me a big hug.

Marching band; copious amounts of people scoff at the sound of those words. I often hear students commenting on how easy marching band is, how we don’t train like the football players do. At Anderson High School, that’s not the case, the marching band trains for just as long. As a band of over 125 individuals, it takes determination, pride, and confidence to achieve the goals we have set forth to accomplish. As a leader of the saxophone section, I know what it’s like to face failure, to overcome and turn it into success and to march on with confidence.
Examples of both my character and ability to serve present themselves in Color Guard and Softball. Leadership is present in the two years I served as captain of the Black History Quiz Bowl. Lone Star High School is a location where students can feel secure and have many opportunities to showcase their skills and leadership qualities. Our campus is built upon five figurative pillars; Integrity, Strength, Stewardship, Loyalty and Perseverance. These pillars are what make us the admirable school that we are today. I believe everyone of our students must have these five qualities in order to ensure success now and later on in the future. As a student I believe that for one to have integrity they must show signs of righteous ethical morals.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to possibly be a part of National Junior Honor Society. I would appreciate being able to be a part of this group to help better the school and it’s environment for people that work there. This would give me a chance to give back to the school district that has gotten me where I am today and has taught me so much. Scholarship, leadership, character, service, and citizenship are qualities not normally seen in every child today and are big shoes to fill.
