A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park is about a boy named Salva that is going through some challenges. He uses determination and his family to get over some of his challenges. He lives in Southern Sudan. A big challenge he faced was he had a war happening in his own town. He used his family to get through a few of his obstacles. He had a lot of obstacles he had to overcome on his journey. A girl named Malala lives in pakistan, she is eleven years old. Malala and Salva use determination and family to help her get over her challenges. Malala is a girl who lives in Pakistan and the Taliban is trying to take over the girls' school. She is fighting for her education. “I told the documentary makers, “They cannot stop me. I will get my education if it's at home, school, or somewhere else. This is our request to the world- to save our schools, save our pakistan, save our swat.” Pakistan is being taken over by the Taliban, and they took down the girl school and destroyed the girls school, but yet the boys can still go to school. Malala is not very happy and it affects her because she can't go to school and she wants to be able to learn and for the Taliban closing the girls schools it represented a big cut in their income.
