Robin Sharma’s quote reflects onto the theme of the book ‘Doll Bones’, written by Holly Black. During the course of the story, the characters go through a lot of changes, and later on get through them. The author’s diction during the story helps the reader better understand the changes the characters are going through. Holly Black uses symbolism throughout the whole story to help get her theme across to the readers. Characters

Zach is a 12-year-old boy who is a protagonist in the story. He plays with dolls but wants to keep his hobby a secret; mainly because it’s embarrassing for him. He wants to keep his life with dolls and his life with friends separated. When really the whole story is showing how the characters feelings are the antagonists of this story. The dolls symbolize their childhood, but the author of the story showed all of the emotions each character had with each other, the dolls and with their families. Some people in real life have a hard time losing their childhoods, but they later on learn to accept it. In the end of the story, the characters say that they are ready for the new chapter of their lives.
