The story, Naming of Names depicts a “New Frontier” type of people whose goal is to stay alive until the war on Earth is over, the short story takes the readers on a trip with Harry and his family and the struggles of trying to restart their lives on Mars. Things don’t turn out the best for the New Frontiersmen when the civilization begins to change, some of these changes include golden eyes, darker skin, thinner and taller bodies, another one of these changes are the people begin speaking in the ancient Martian tongue, one of the last changes these New Frontiersman run into is the change in their diet and clothing. The science fiction, Naming of Names by Ray Bradbury reveals change and how humans learn to adapt to different ways of life.
The first piece of evidence to prove the thesis is the humans on Mars are changing a substantial part of their body, this includes their eye and skin color, and they are also becoming a shade or two browner and start becoming very thin and taller. To support this claim Ray Bradbury states, “Lying abed, Mr.Bittering felt his bones shifted, shaped, melted like gold. His wife, lying beside him, was dark from many sunny afternoons. This can be proven by the change in which the people eat, become healthier, thinner, and don’t want to wear their old clothing anymore like Mr.Bittering’s daughter, Laura. To prove the thesis exponentially more the author states, “Mr.Bittering glanced away. “I’ll come and get it next week.”They turned to their daughter. “What about your New York dresses?” The bewildered girl stared. “Why, I don’t want them anymore.”. This proves the thesis more because it shows how the old human clothing wouldn’t seem normal for a new Martian to wear. It also shows how they show different trains of thought now, they only want to live and not have fun doing
