The Indian Ocean Trade was a very important factor of exchange in history between the East and the West. Many changes and continuities have been seen in trade on the Indian Ocean region between 650 CE to 1750 CE. One of the many continuities of the Indian Ocean trade involves the use of the same trade routes for the exchange of goods between many trading groups. One of the many changes of the Indian Ocean trade is with the Europeans stepping into the trade as well with the Asians and further deepen their involvement with the trade.
The continuity of the Indian Ocean Trade was that it continued to use the same trade routes for centuries because it was so useful and efficient. Traders would use the monsoon winds in the Indian Ocean region to travel around and actually became dependant on those winds to deliver their goods later on very quickly. Not only were these trade routes the same, but also the trading ports. European traders have been traveling across the Indian Ocean region in search for successful trading partners and over time, they colonized in many countries; India being one of the most important of them all. Another involvement of the Europeans was that it established centers of agriculture across the region of the Indian Ocean so that the Europeans could harvest and bring back to their own respective countries. This made the European countries very powerful regarding the Indian Ocean Trade as they were able to expand their powers across the region and, therefore, restricting the powers of others inside that region.
