The time period is often referred to as the “Roaring Twenties'' due to the economic prosperity, political change and cultural change that made the time so important.
The 1920’s in America is often considered as “The Roaring Twenties. World War I was over, women got suffrage, fashion changed immensely, prohibition was put into place, and jazz filled the air. The Roaring ‘20s was a decade of play and prosperity. Unemployment was low and Americans were better off financially. After World War I, America wanted to return to normal.

With all these changes people had more leisure time. With their extra time people went to movies, participated in fads, and much more!
The 1920's, also known as the "Roaring 20's" or the "Jazz Age", was a time era filled with new inventions, for some wealth, and for others poverty. However, with this time period came along many changes for the United States. Inventions such as radios, automobiles, refrigerators, toasters, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, movies, credit and lay away, the instant camera, etc. we're only a few inventions that helped to make the 1920's as memorable as it is. This time period was a time that America bathed in prosperity which allowed U.S. citizens to enjoy more leisure time.
One of the wildest decades in American history. The Roaring Twenties, the period between 1920 and 1930. Social morals were being spun on its head. The economy had big changes, booms, and crashes, and politics During this time there were a variety of economic, social, and political ideas that shaped the decade. During the roaring twenties, there were lots of economic, social, and political changes.
Causes The Roaring 20’s were kick-started by the end of World War One. Thanks to the American victory, confidence in the distinctly American ideals of freedom and government was at an all-time high. Mass production of goods such as laundry machines and cars meant more of these products could now be bought on credit. Machines such as these freed up time for leisure, which could be spent listening to the radio, partying, or drinking.
“The Roaring 20’s” took place in America during the 1920’s. The economy would be going through a state of recovery during this time period. The economy was becoming more urbanized with business booming, American wealth going up, and the rise of media. The use of automobiles, electricity, media and music soared during these times. Automobile sales rose by 5million and also prompted for the construction of more businesses and roads.
The 1920’s was a period characterized by immersive and deep-rooted change coupled with a collective mindset shift amongst the people of the United States. Often referred to as the “Roaring Twenties” for the clear theme, it introduced a dynamic decade full of exuberance. There was a change of culture in the terms of the economic boom that surged consumerism, the technological advancements that would impact the public, and general social changes. With the aftermath of World War I, America hadn’t felt the economic destruction that occurred in Europe, which placed it favorably on the global stage of economics. America experienced an almost surprising economic boom, leading to a vision of prosperity.
The 1920s was the beginning of a new life for everyone in America, new things people never would have imagined to use in the past were now accessible. Years before,most people used railroads and wagons to get places. Not only that but, society was split between the north and south. Revolving labor, people usually farmed and owned property, but this would soon change. The 1920s came with unexpected turning points, new technological developments, social behavior change, and economic oppurtunities.
The dramatic cultural and social shifts within the roaring 20’s shaped the rest of the 20th century following the decade. Social aspects of the decade changed and caused a domino effect, affecting women, religion, moral standards, traditional values, attitudes, and evolutionary views. Cultural aspects changing affected the arts, black culture, gangs, amendments, and America's culture as a whole. Social standards changed within the decade of change due to occurring after WW1. Before the 20s, social standards were strict, women were oppressed, expected to be dependent on their husband and expected to be the perfect wife, mom, and woman.
That’s when the U.S took the America’s under their wings and made America the “new world”, leading the U.S economy booming with riches and luxury. The 1920’s was a booming decade that included; new culture, music, dancers, prosperity, advanced technology, bursting economics, and modern flares in urban places.
