In the 1920’s women wanted to be equal to men and were going for more a boyish look. They would bound their chest so it would give an appearance of their chest being flatter, and the waistline of dresses dropped below the hips so the appearance of their curves would flatten. In this era women had gained a lot of rights and were able to do much more outside of their home. They were trained to have jobs, they were able to dance and be athletic. The lifestyle of the women became free and this reflected a lot on the clothing. The clothing evolved from being very conservative, heavy and very detailed to short and loose. Stockings were made from rayon and and were rolled under a women’s garter bel. Elsa Schiaparelli was an Italian designer who worked in Paris. She was really recognized for having unique designs that were different and set it off. She created the first evening dress that was paired with matching jackets and skirts so they would match with sweaters. One of the radical changes that was made in this era was the change in the length and style of clothing. The clothing in this era became looser and shorter. As stated earlier women were more boyish and were doing the complete opposite than what was wanted in the eras before this. They did not want long dresses anymore and no more girdles and accentuated their hips or create a bigger bust. They did the opposite and tried to give the illusion of a flat chest and manlier shape. Athletic wear become a really popular thing in this era. Women started to be recognized in sports and became very popular. Because of this, sports wear became more popular. Sports clothing was created for particular sports and were obviously made more comfortable, and light
