According to Major, the cause of all the animals' problems is human beings. Four commandments given by Major are: "Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy," "Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend," "No animal shall wear clothes," and "No animal shall sleep in a bed." After Major's death, the idea of rebelling against man continues to spread among the animals. The pigs dislike Moses' stories about Sugarcandy Mountain because they consider it a distraction from their revolutionary goals. The animals rebel against Mr. Jones and his farmhands after they forget to feed them, making the animals hungry and desperate. Jones was in control, life was not easy. Mr. Jones was a harsh and neglectful farmer who did not care about the welfare of the animals. Especially us pigs we had to work long hours in the fields and perform task around the farm and we were given very little food and water. We are not provided with proper rest, nutrition, or medical care. Because of this we are always hungry, fatigued, and experience physical exhaustion. We don’t get good enough sleep because we live in cramped and unsanitary quarters and we don’t have adequate space or comfort. I can barely stretch my feet when I’m trying to sleep. We had to endure harsh weather conditions without proper shelter. This environment was not conducive for meand the other pigs. Now I’m a very smat pig but farmer jones doesn’t think so. I could be even smarter but farmer Jones doesn’t value our education. We were denied access to learning, critical thinking, and the opportunity to cultivate our intelligence. This lack of education stifled our potential and hindered our ability to rise above certain circumstances. Farmer jones treated us like we were mere commodities.
