Thomas had lived by this quote most of his life, he had thought of the idea of serving his country many times. Thomas thought that this would be a way he could make a difference. Thomas had decided he wanted to make a difference and serve his country, Thomas decided to enlist into the Marines. Clang! Clang! Clang! The whole platoon awoke to the threatening sound of two pans being clashed together by the hands of the strict sergeant. The instructor was strict on the cadets and displayed very little empathy. The instructor immediately pounced on this. The Instructor could not allow a Cadets to be insubordinate in week one. The Sergeant pranced over towards Thomas… he just smiled and handed him a bucket “Congratulations you just earned yourself a new job.” After Thomas had made that snarky remark, Thomas was now cleaning the bathroom every night. Till the next Cadets had made a pity mistake. Thomas awoke again to the infamous wakeup call of the almighty Sergeant. The Sergeant had commanded “all right! Cadets we are going to be running the course all day. So stay hydrated Cadets! “Thomas had always hated the obstacle course, he knew he was in for a world of hurt. Thomas was running the course for hours now with very little breaks. It was about 1:30 and Thomas was completely drained of all liveliness. Thomas was on the wall and having a lot of trouble leaping across. “Come on Thomas! Let's go!” the Sergeant barked. Thomas was now questioning himself he said “Why did I think it was a good idea to enlist, especially why the marines?” he launched over the wall and now had to crawl through the mud under the barbed wire. Thomas cursed as he crawled under the wire into the pit he stopped for a moment gazing up at the clear blue sky.
