Johnny Cade, or also known as the *Gang’s Pet , everyone's kid brother*Pg11, A sixteen years old greaser, and one of the main characters in the novel The Outsiders, Ponyboy described Johnny in the novel by saying ’’ If you can picture a little dark puppy that has been kicked too many times and is lost in a crowd of strangers, you'll have Johnny’’Pg11. Johnny is the youngest in his gang next to Ponyboy, he has a slight build, He had big black eyes in a dark tanned face; his hair was jet-black and heavily greased and combed to the side, but it was so long that it fell in shaggy bangs across his forehead. Johnny was jumped by the Socs about four months before the book began and was severely injured. He had gotten a temple-to-cheek long gash scar by his eye, which he would have for the rest of his life. The gash was caused by the large rings worn by the Soc who grabbed him. It all started when the Socs saw their girlfriends with Ponyboy’s gang after the movies, The greasers and Socs nearly got into a fight, but the girls agree to leave with their boyfriends to prevent violence. When Ponyboy went back home Darry was furious with him as ponyboy said ’’Dally was so real he scared me’’ pg 44 , because he stayed out so late Darry slapped him without meaning to, and Ponyboy ran out of the house in a rage,Ponyboy finds Johnny at the lot where the greasers hangout, and he tells Johnny that they are running away. They started an argument and Ponyboy spit at the socs which lead to them grabbing Ponyboy and holding his head under the frigid water of the fountain. Ponyboy feels himself drowning and blacks out.
