In this book white people had a big hatred towards the black people. A winner of the Pulitzer Prize is To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. A man named Atticus has two kids name Jem, and Scout. Atticus is a white man, and he stands up for a black man named Tom. In Maycomb County people don’t like black people. Atticus doesn’t judge anybody he isn 't like others in Maycomb. Atticus should take the stand because he is very respectful, and he is also strong willed.
The first reason is that Atticus is respectful to anybody and everybody. Atticus is being respectful to Mayelle while they are in the courthouse. “Miss Mayella” said Atticus in spite of himself (page 245). Atticus is being respectful towards Mayella. People in Maycomb County are very racist. A group of white people are trying to get into the jailhouse to hurt Tom Robinson a black man. “He in there, Mr. Finch?” a man said……… “You know what we want,” another man said. “Get aside from the door, Mr. Finch” (page 202). This demonstrates that people in Maycomb County are racist because, they tried to kill a black man that was inside the jailhouse. However, that states that people in Maycomb County are racist. If Atticus decides to defend a black man and won’t stop trying to help him it means that he is strong willed.
Atticus should take the case because, he is strong willed (determined) to get the job done, and he is very respectful towards others no matter how mean they can get towards Atticus he still respects others. He is very strong willed and will never stop trying on anything. He will also respect anyone and everyone weather there boy/girl or even black/white he will never disrespect them. Atticus took the case even though Tom is a black man. No matter what Atticus will always be there for
