Into The Wild portrays a man who went on a fatal unforgettable journey through the alaska wilderness. Chris McCandless was a man with great courage and the ability to live on his own made him more of a hero going on his fatal journey. Many would say he was foolish or not thinking right, but that is not the case. The case here is simply a man with courage wanting to fulfill is beliefs through his journey. He had the courage to give up every bit of money he had by getting “A pathetic little stack of ones and fives and twenties- and put a match on it”( Krakauer 29). No normal person would undergo this process but McCandless did which shows the courage he has in trusting the wilderness. Not only did he give up his possessions but he did infact have the courage to take on a new name he had given himself. “No longer would he answer to Chris McCandless; he was now Alexander Supertramp, master of his own destiny”( Krakauer 23). He did what anyone would do if they had their own beliefs and dreams. McCandless was one special person who had very different views on the world with society. No matter how many people doubt his actions and felt he was wrong, they can't know the true reason for him doing so unless they were in his shoes. Although he did explain some of the reasons for doing so no one knew what was the exact point that made him have a belief that society was not needed.
