Soldier Boys is a novel about two young boys, Spencer and Dieter, who have gone off to fight in World War II. Both boys decide to enlist to prove a point; Spencer joins to show his family that he is no longer a silly teenage boy with a crush and Dieter to prove how great of a German boy and soldier he is to the Fuhrer and Germans all over the world. They soon learn that the war is not about them, but instead the people they have chosen to protect and the beliefs they must stick by. Joe Rantz’s character arc helps him develop over the course of The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown. Towards the beginning of the book, Joe is very independent and goal oriented. After being abandoned by his dad for the second time 15 year old Joe knew that to be able to feed himself he would need to take every opportunity he could to stay ahead of The Great Depression. “In all all this Joe grew continually stronger and ever more self reliant. Through it all he stayed in school and earned good grades” (Brown 62).
The 2002 comedy film, ‘‘Friday after Next ' ' cranks up an impressive amount of energy considering that it 's the third installment. Yet although most of the ' 'Friday ' ' team returns, attrition is slowly wearing away at the series. ' 'I don 't know if I can handle another Friday, ' ' Craig says at the start of the movie, suggesting that despite all the laughs, he understands how tired the series is becoming. This film is directed by Marcus Raboy. Mike Epps is the comic character of the film that keep you guessing what he would do next, and Ice Cube is the serious cousins that keeps it altogether.
The concept of a hero and villain are not prevalent within the novel, because that would imply a winner or a loser. The narrator, who the reader can assume shares similar ideologies to Vonnegut, explains how he does not believe that war should be glorified nor does it warrant any victors. Instead, Vonnegut focuses his attention on the idea of an outcast or an underdog. In a way every character has these qualities, Billy is made to seem crazy by his daughter, Montana is extremely sexualized, and Weary is damaged and alone. All of these characters are struggling because they are trying to make sense of what they have endured (this concept of soul searching, and going within one’s subconcious is seen metaphorically in the constant appearance of caves).
The supporting characters are Jordans friends from Washington Heights, and the new friends that he makes at his new school. I believe that the antagonist would be those who make fun of Jordan. If I were to pick a main antagonist, I would choose Andy. This is because Andy mainly picks on Jordan and bullies him one on one. Jordan just wants to be able to fit in at his new school and to stay connected and not become distant from his old friends.

In John Landis’ 1980 film The Blues Brothers, “Joliet” Jake and Elwood Blues try to track down their old band members to remake The Blues Brother so they can raise enough money to save the orphanage where they grew up. After serving a prison sentence he received by robbing a store to pay for the band’s expenses, Jake meets with his brother, Elwood, who takes Jake to meet with the Penguin, the nun who raised the orphaned brothers at Saint Helene of the Blessed Shroud Orphanage. The Penguin tells the two that if they want to help pay for the orphanage bills, they need to collect $5,000 in a week, and they need to do so lawfully. Jake then decides that to accomplish this task, the brothers should bring their old band back together to play several shows and raise the money. The Blues Brothers travel all over Illinois to find their band members while police officers, Illinois Neo-Nazis, country singers, and a murderous ex-girlfriend try to find and kill them.
Before considering leaderships between different leaders in Band of Brothers, it’s important to note that everybody has a different way of leading and is a good leader on their own. The three people that have shown the greatest leadership in the series, “Bands of Brothers,” are Lieutenant Winters, Lieutenant Speirs, and Sergeant Lipton. Some traits that they all have in common is that they are great leaders and are willing to sacrifice themselves to save others. The purpose of my essay is to explore how different social backgrounds and the social norms that follow affect the personality of two fictive characters and encourage them to break out of their station to find an identity.
