A Maturing Experience When talents are discovered, it is easy for us to place all our worth and purpose in that one thing, despite the warning “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket”. However, this is exactly what Johnny did in the book Johnny Tremain. As a naturally talented silversmith, Johnny became prideful and foolish, placing all his value in his workmanship. But one day, all of his aspirations disappeared when he burnt his hand, leaving it crippled and useless.
Johnny, Dove, and Dusty are all apprentices training to become silversmiths, their master is Mr.Lamphan who is married to Mrs.Lamphan and they have have four daughters Isannah, Cilla, Dorcas, and Madge. Johnny Tremain is a 14 year old boy who has been serving the Lamphan’s for two years. He is rather skinny and is already determined to marry Cilla when their older, after Johnny has served for 7 years. Johnny is hardworking and reliable many people like him except him and Dove don’t get along. Then a wealthy man by the name of Hancock comes to ask the silversmiths to fix his Sugar Basin for his wife that Mr. Lamphan had originally made.
In the novel The Outsiders, there are things motivating Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy to save the children caught in the church fire. One piece of evidence that shows the motive of Ponyboy is “’I bet we started it,” I said to Johnny. ‘We must have dropped a lighted cigarette or something’” (Hinton 70). Ponyboy must’ve felt guilty that he may have caused the fire so he went to save the children in exchange for his mishap.

In the beginning of the novel, The Outsiders, written by S.E Hinton, the author portrays Johnny Cade as a weak and helpless character in the book. He`s seen as a dynamic character that has gone through extremely tough times that are difficult for him to handle alone. ``He was the gangs`pet, everyones` kid brother``, if it hadn`t been for the gang Johnny would have never felt love nor affection. He always seemed to have an anxious and suspicious look in his eyes, he was a nervous wreck. He struggled in the areas of self-confidence and loving himself, that even the idea of suicide popped in his head.
A hero is a person who would risk their lives and put themselves in danger to help anyone they can, and is a person who cares about more than themselves. Ponyboy was a hero for two things, Dallas for two as well and Darry for one reason. In “The Outsiders,” Ponyboy, Dally, and Darry are all heros for what they have all done. Ponyboy fits the definition of hero by saving the group of children in the burning church in windrixville without hesitation, “I started at a dead run for the Church,”(78). Johnny was a dynamic character, he contributed a lot to the main theme. Johnny had bad parents and committed murder. Soon after his bad acts, he became a hero.

A hero can be anyone around you. A hero is a person who is strong, has courage, helps others, and does good deeds. Ponyboy deserves to be considered a hero. Johnny also deserves to be considered a hero too. Dally does not deserve to be considered a hero though, unlike Ponyboy and Johnny.
In the novel, A Lesson Before Dying, Ernest Grains, displays what a hero is in his perspective. Grains describes his hero just how I embody mine, selfless, devoted, and loyal from a man who hasn’t known me my whole life but, treats me like he does. My stepfather, has only been in our lives for about 9 years but, has proved to my family and I that he is willing to sacrifice everything for us. He single handedly bought us a new home after 2 years of moving from California to Laredo. At first, my siblings and I were sketchy but little did we know he would turn out to be our noble and considerate hero.
