Imagine being married and then one day your spouse is in a freak accident causing them to enter a vegetative state. Then day after day having to take care of her and having to depend on someone else to care for her while you go to work, every time you leave them it adds so much stress to your life knowing that in a matter of seconds everything could go wrong. The stress eventually gets so bad that you think it would be better to just let her die. In the story mice and men by John Steinbeck this is almost the case George who is a normal everyday person promised Lennie's aunt clara to watch him when she passed.
