In the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, Ponyboy Curtis is a 14 year old, who is known as a greaser. Him having a rivalry with Socs, living with his two brothers, due to his parents passing away, His non-sympathy brother Darrel Curtis, His Loving brother Sodapop Curtis. For example, when Ponyboy has a “breakthrough” with Cherry he explains how it’s not fair too greaser that they have all rough breaks. Cherry had explained how they actually have problems, although Ponyboy says he agrees. He still believed that everything they had were the worries they had. Cherry believes Socs are more experienced and less sensitive, while she doesn’t realize what greasers have to deal with so often, making them so sensitive. Instead of listening to Cherry, “I’ll tell you something, Ponyboy, and it may of come as a surprise. We have troubles you’ve never even heard of. “You want to know something?” She looked me straight in the eye. “Things are rough all over.” (hinton 34-35) Ponyboy thought otherwise, and he kept this thought throughout his adventure. This citation shows that, although Cherry explains Socs rough break, Ponyboy still shows his no sympathy towards Socs. Ponyboy has a strong opinion on them and just because one Girl says they are not, doesn’t mean it will be true. He had a true honest opinion on Socs and although people prove him somewhat different his opinion won’t change. Distinctly Ponyboy opinion and thoughts on Socs would not change his pov on
