I disagree with Callarman’s argument because I think that Chris McCandless (Alexander Supertramp) was not arrogant I think that he just wanted to learn new things. I also disagree because I think that Chris did have a reason to go to Alaska or else he would not have done it even if it just to go because he likes nature, and I don’t think that he was crazy at the beginning but I agree that he did start to get crazy when he was stuck in the wild on the bus. I don’t think that Chris is arrogant I think that he is just a guy who wants to learn new things about nature and just the world in general.
Into the Wild Essay Most people go into the wilderness to go camping for a week or less than a week, then leave. Some stay for more than a week. People today would not think of doing the sort of things that McCandless did, and ended up losing his life over it. Into The Wild is a biography about a man named Chris Mccandles. In 1990 Chris had just graduated college when Chris decided to go on an adventure. He abandoned his life and left without a trace going under the alias of Alexander Supertramp. His final destination Alaska. Along the ay he met an abundance of people and made a mark on their hearts.
Into the wild, is a book by Jon Krakauer that later got turned into a film by Sean Penn, it follows the life of Christopher McCandless, who graduated from Emory University as a top student and athlete with wealthy pushing parents. Instead of continuing his life as a working man of society and taking his offers at top law schools, he decides to ultimately completely disconnect himself from society and instead tries to find his own meaning of life in the wild. Shaun Callarman says “ I think that Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time.” and i really agree with him on that because even though he left his college a top student the way he wanted to completely disconnect himself the way he did was ignorant. Not only that In the movie it clearly shows that even though he didn't want to connect with people on his journey to alaska he did, I think that if he wouldn't have been so set on being alone and not being attached to others he wouldn't have died the way he did.

Krakauer does somewhat persuade us to think that Chris was a good guy and was quit smart to live in the wilderness for the amount of days that he lived in the wild. But krakauer is also impartial enough to give us an example of how Chris was a little bit lazy. When Chris was at the end of his Alaskan journey he was prepared to go home and he had all of his things packed.
He wanted to go in there without really anything so that he can make things that were in the nature. “Chris didn’t think twice about risking his own life…”(Carine McCandless 128). I absolutely think that this quote about Chris is very true because he was so into finding new adventures to take, to enjoy and be happy with
Into The Wild portrays a man who went on a fatal unforgettable journey through the alaska wilderness. Chris McCandless was a man with great courage and the ability to live on his own made him more of a hero going on his fatal journey. Many would say he was foolish or not thinking right, but that is not the case. The case here is simply a man with courage wanting to fulfill is beliefs through his journey. One may ask what is courage.
In the face of the fact that a lot of people have opposed opinions about Chris McCandless, I believe that he is one of the dumbest, oblivious, shallow people I ever heard of. I'm not sure why he made the decisions he made, he was a smart guy that graduated from college somewhat decided to throw his life away. Into The Wild was a tremendous story which Shaun Callarman did not have many positive things to say about Chris McCandless, the main character. He went on this adventure to find out what life is all about in his own eyes. He wanted to see how different living in the wild really was compared to society because he was not satisfied with his living arrangements and household. This demonstrates how Chris was not selfish and left for his own good. Even from the very beginning, Chris always knew what he was getting himself into. He knew that people would judge him for this adventure and would tell him it was too difficult. The way I look at him is that he was courageous and adventurous to just go out and follow his dream. This is why I think Chris McCandless is courageous. When Chris burned what money he had left I thought it was courageous because he was trying to get around without money and how hard it would be. By Chris burning his money and trying to brave the world without money show´s that he´s courageous because do you know how hard it is to get around without money?
I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t crazy for going out into the wild. He wasn’t a loner; he chose to be on his own. But Chris could easily make friends. He had the right to travel. All he was trying to do was get away from the corrupt world.
Chris McCandless was a college student with a need for adventure. On April 28, 1992, he left on a journey which would lead to the end of his life. After news of his death had reached public ear, most people came to the same conclusion: Chris McCandless was an uneducated, arrogant boy who went on a journey seeking death. However, in the novel Into the Wild, Jon Krakaur portrays Chris McCandless’ transcendental quest as a journey full of wonder. Throughout the novel, Krakaur defines McCandless as an intelligent, hard working, determined young man.
